Care begins with you: Health Benefits for IPs

Posted by Rachael Tom

Caring for another person is hard work, and it can have an impact on your physical and emotional health.

The good news? It is easy to qualify for comprehensive health insurance as an IP or family provider through SEIU 775 Benefits Group.

Let's get your health benefits questions answered.

How do I get comprehensive health benefits?

Simply work 80 caregiving hours per month for 2 months in a row to qualify for high-quality health benefits. You will need to continue working 80 hours per month after you qualify in order to keep your benefits.

Caregivers who are on the plan for more than 2 months at 80 hours a month may be eligible for continuous health insurance coverage due to COVID-19. For a limited time, you can remain insured even if you work fewer than the required monthly hours. Learn more about continuous coverage

What would my health benefits include??

For only $25 per month, you will have the following high-quality benefits available to you:

  • Affordable doctor’s office visits.
  • Free self-care and emotional health services.
  • Low-cost prescription drug coverage.
  • Vision coverage.
  • Dental coverage.
  • Hearing aid coverage.
  • Fertility benefits.
  • Access to Urgent Care clinics, a low-cost alternative to the ER.

I don’t work 80 hours per month. How can I get more hours?

You can use Carina to connect with consumers to meet the hours requirement.

Family providers can also use Carina to find more hours, but will need to complete additional training before working with new consumers.

What is Carina?

Carina is an online platform where caregivers and consumers can create profiles or post jobs to connect with others for care or jobs.

Carina is not an agency. You have full control over your job or backup provider search. You can use advanced filters to find your exact match.

Carina is a free benefit provided by the union contract between SEIU 775 and Washington state.

How do I sign up for Carina?

You only need 5 minutes and your IP One Number (or your birth date and the last four digits of your social security number) to sign up for Carina.
